Herman Eddie Roberts Post 6291 in Murray, KY exists for the purpose of honoring the fallen, and supporting the surviving. We strive to honor those who sacrificed by supporting their dependents, and by fostering the Patriotic Spirit which calls us to serve. We work to support the surviving by providing Counseling services for Veterans to obtain all the support available to them through our Government Programs, and by providing a fostering comradeship where we can support and assist in times of need.
Join the City of Murray, KY as we participate in the annual Veterans Day Parade, to be held Thursday, November 11th, beginning at 4:00pm.
From its inception, the Buddy Poppy Program has helped the VFW live up to its motto, "to honor the dead by helping the living." The Buddy Poppy - small red flower symbolic of the blood shed in World War I by millions of Allied soldiers in defense of freedom was inspired by Colonel John McCrae's poem, "In Flanders Field," which spoke of poppies growing in an Allied graveyard "between the crosses, row on row,"
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.
Apart from serving our Nation, we endeavor to serve our community. We hope you will join us as we work to make Calloway County, and SW Kentucky, a better place for Veterans and for all who live here.
Our programs support our service members while they are on the front line, as they are being discharged and long after they return. Your tax-deductible donation will be immediately directed to the VFW programs where your support is most urgently needed.
